hms.harvard.eduSonghua is a postdoctoral fellow in the Marcia Haigis Lab, where he began his training in 2022. He also holds a joint research fellowship in the Nathalie Agar Lab in the Department of Neurosurgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Songhua completed his Ph.D. at Fudan University in the laboratory of Shimin Zhao, where he investigated how metabolites regulate cellular metabolism through covalent modification of proteins. His current research focuses on how dysregulated metabolite signaling contributes to diseases such as cancer and aging-related metabolic disorders. He is currently investigating an underappreciated role of sirtuin-derived NAD⁺ byproducts in the regulation of cellular metabolism. His work is supported by an American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellowship (2024–2027).
