Shakchhi built the Haigis lab's first metabolite library and now serves as Mass Spectrometry Director, overseeing high-resolution mass spectrometers that support metabolomics, lipidomics, and stable isotope tracing studies. She develops and refines sample preparation protocols, trains researchers one-on-one in metabolomics workflows and data analysis, and partners with investigators across Harvard and beyond. She also keeps the lab running by coordinating institutional inspections, overseeing onboarding and training, organizing scientific symposia, and supporting grant preparation.

I am responsible for purchasing supplies and negotiating with vendors on the pricing of laboratory equipment, performing inventory, handling invoices, and maintaining a weekly overview of lab expenses. My other responsibilities include serving as the lab’s safety representative, providing direct administrative support to the lab’s principal investigator, managing the administrative and human resources aspects of the lab, and assisting with coordinating events and lab outings.
