As the Mass Spectrometry Director, Shakchhi oversees the maintenance and operation of 3 in-house mass spectrometry instruments. She coordinates run schedules, supervises and trains lab members and collaborators, and provides technical support. Shakchhi is involved in multiple, diverse scientific projects, conducting sample preparation and data analysis for metabolite profiling, stable isotope tracing, and lipidomic profiling.

I am responsible for purchasing supplies and negotiating with vendors on the pricing of laboratory equipment, performing inventory, handling invoices, and maintaining a weekly overview of lab expenses. My other responsibilities include serving as the lab’s safety representative, providing direct administrative support to the lab’s principal investigator, managing the administrative and human resources aspects of the lab, and assisting with coordinating events and lab outings.
