Shakchhi built the Haigis lab's first metabolite library and now serves as Mass Spectrometry Director, overseeing high-resolution mass spectrometers that support metabolomics, lipidomics, and stable isotope tracing studies. She develops and refines sample preparation protocols, trains researchers one-on-one in metabolomics workflows and data analysis, and partners with investigators across Harvard and beyond. She also keeps the lab running by coordinating institutional inspections, overseeing onboarding and training, organizing scientific symposia, and supporting grant preparation. Her research advances cancer, immunology, and aging by uncovering the mechanisms that drive disease, identifying therapeutic vulnerabilities, and helping move scientific discoveries toward better patient care.
